Hi, my name is Emma Naughton-Heavey. I am twenty one years old, and live in Moyvilla, Oranmore, Co. Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. I live with my parents, my sister, Katie and brothers, Jack and Tommy. I am the eldest in the family.
All our lives were turned upside down in 2013 when I was diagnosed with a very rare cancer called Fibrolamellar Hepatocellular Carcinorma, or Fibrolamellar for short. This cancer only affects one in five-million people, and there are less than 200 new cases diagnosed each year; you can read the full story here on my website. I have set up this site for two reasons, the first being to keep all my friends and well-wishers updated with regular news, so please check in occasionally or like my Facebook page. The second is to help raise funds towards my treatment.I am currently travelling to and from the USA for treatment, where we have to pay for everything as our family health insurance, like most, does not cover medical costs there.
I really appreciate all the help, prayers, support and good wishes I have received to date. However I have a long way to go, so your future support is needed, and for that I thank you in advance.
